Kleztival São Paulo 2013 Opening Night
The 4th Kleztival São Paulo got off to a great start this evening with Frank London's "A Night In The Old Marketplace" before a near-capacity audience. This is my first time attending the festival and seeing this show. The work is a fusion of music and storytelling, with the music and singing alternating with the narration. Five outstanding vocalists took to the stage, including The Klezmatics' Lorin Sklamberg. With eleven performers in all, this was quite a production, including projected animations onto a screen on stage. The show will be presented again during the festival, which will run through 3 October. Congratulations to the Kleztival 2013 organizers for putting on such a great event, especially these days, when arts budgets are tight. It is my hope that Kleztival continues to draw enthusiastic support from the Brazilian public, and the São Paulo Jewish Community. Congratulations on such a fine event!

Trans Siberian March Band:
The Tractor Makers' Ball
Klezmer Podcast 100- Trans Siberian March Band. Welcome to the 100th episode of Klezmer Podcast. Since it began in January 2007, I have met amazing musicians from around the world, and have made friends with so many of them. The fans have been wonderful as well, and I appreciate your support. While in London recently, I attended the Victory At Stalingrad 70th Anniversary Night Out, which featured Trans Siberian March Band as the headliner. The band plays a mix of Eastern European styles, and is as much fun to watch as they are to listen to. They are dedicated to their music, and have put their own twist on the traditional sounds, plus writing originals in the same style. We hear the track Sher from the album The Tractor Makers' Ball.
Run time: 17:15.
